Gerillaktioner i Nordirland

Idag hålls som bekant ett intressant föredrag av föreningen Irlandinformation i Stockholm. Vi kan av olika anledningar inte närvara, men vi publicerar här en lista med några av de gerillaaktioner som genomförts i Nordirland sedan 2007. För löpande uppdatering om läget i Nordirland rekomenderar vi våra läsare att regelbundet titta in på Irlandinformations hemsida.

2007
8 November: A PSNI officer was shot and injured by the RIRA as he sat in his car on Bishop Street in Derry.
12 November: A PSNI officer was shot and injured by the RIRA in Dungannon, County Tyrone.

2008
7 February: The RIRA announced that after a three year period of reorganisation it was ready to "go back to war".
14 February: A suspected RIRA member, Andrew Burns, was killed by a small republican organisation, Óglaigh na hÉireann in the Donegal village of Doneyloop.[
12 May: A PSNI officer was injured when the RIRA attached a booby-trap bomb to his car. The bomb exploded as he drove through the village of Spamount, County Tyrone. The officer was pulled to safety by a passing motorist before the car was engulfed in flames.
25 September: A man survived after being shot in the neck by the RIRA on the County Derry-County Donegal border. The same man was targeted in a pipe bomb attack on his home on 25 October, the RIRA did not claim responsibility for the attack, but security forces believe they were responsible for it.

2009
1 February: The RIRA are believed to have been responsible for leaving a 300lb car bomb in Castlewellan, County Down. The device took 5 days to be defused.
7 March: The RIRA carried out an gun attack on Massereene British Army Barracks, County Antrim. Two British soldiers were shot dead and two other soldiers and two civilians were injured.
2 April: The RIRA in Derry claimed responsibility for carrying out a punishment shooting against a convicted rapist who was awaiting sentencing for raping a 15 year old girl.
12 April: The RIRA claimed responsibility for the death of MI5 agent, Denis Donaldson. Donaldson was killed by the RIRA in Glenties, County Donegal in 2006.
13 July: The RIRA was blamed for shooting at the police in the Ardoyne area of Belfast during 3 days of rioting.
28 August: The RIRA staged a roadblock in the village of Meigh, County Armagh. The unit is reported to have had a rocket launcher, assault rifles and a heavy machine-gun (believed to have been stolen from a Provisional IRA arms dump). A PSNI patrol spotted the group, but withdrew fearing that their presence would provoke a gun battle.
21 September: The RIRA claimed it was responsible for two pipe-bomb attacks on the homes of family members of a PSNI officer in Derry. One of the devices exploded and destroyed a car.
8 October: RIRA members fired a volley of shots over the coffin of the RIRA member John Brady, who died in Police Custody.
22 October: The RIRA claimed responsibility for a small I.E.D. explosion at a British Territorial Army base in North Belfast which caused minor damage to the perimeter barrier of the base. There were no injuries.
31 December: The RIRA claimed responsibility for firing a number of shots at Crossmaglen PSNI station, County Armagh.

(There where 40 punishment shootings & 16 punishment beating carried out by republican groups during 2009)

2010
24 January: The RIRA claimed responsibility for firing a number of shots at Crossmaglen PSNI station in County Armagh.
25 January: The RIRA claimed responsibility for shooting dead of a suspected drug dealer in Cork City in the Republic of Ireland.
31 January: The RIRA claimed responsibility for firing shots at a police station in Bessbrook, County Armagh. It is reported that high velocity weapons where used in this attack.
3 February: The RIRA threw a improvised pipe-bomb at Oldpark PSNI station in Belfast. The device exploded causing minor damage to a perimeter fence."
